CIRCA 1976

Mary Crutchfield Thompson (D30) was the third African-American woman to graduate from TUSDM. She ran a dental clinic from her home on Windsor Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Deeply involved with the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and the NAACP throughout her life, Dr. Crutchfield-Thompson provided dental services to impoverished rural patients in the Deep South and fought against housing discrimination in Boston. Since 1976, an AKA-sponsored scholarship bearing her name has assisted students at TUSDM.
